Lehrkraftperspektiven auf den Einsatz von literarischen Texten im niederländischen DaF-Unterricht der Sekundarstufe I

Abstract

This article analyses German language teachers’ attitudes towards reading and literature in Dutch schools. A survey among teachers revealed learning objectives, teaching methods and the frequency with which literature is taught in the lower classes of Dutch secondary schools. It also revealed how the teachers would like to improve the curriculum. This research fills a major gap, because there is a lack of data on the teaching of German in lower of secondary schools in the Netherlands. The teachers’ views give hints on the possible roles literary texts could play in the teaching of German as a Foreign Language in Dutch secondary schools.
