Abstract
I was struck by salient divergences between the ways in which Heidegger's texts are interpreted within various national communities of philosophers. In France, for example, the religious dimension of Heidegger's thought has never been denied. American interpreters, however, tend to play down the religious connotations of Heidegger's oeuvre.
