Dit hoofdstuk is een literatuurstudie over de behandeling van de voorzetsels in de Extended Standard Theory van de generatieve grammatica. Het behandelt de ontwikkeling van de voorzetseltheorie en formuleert de vragen die gesteld kunnen met betrekking tot de Italiaanse voorzetsels.

RIASSUNTO Questo capitolo è una rassegna della letteratura sulla sintassi delle preposizioni nella Teoria Standard Estesa della grammatica generativa, che mostra lo sviluppo della teoria delle preposizioni e formula le domande che si potrebbero porre rispetto alle preposizioni italiane.

SUMMARY This chapter is an account of the literature on preposition syntax in the framework of the Extended Standard Theory of generative grammar. It shows the development of preposition theory and formulates the questions that could be asked about Italian prepositions.
