Abstract
This chapter introduces the Pricing Strategy Canvas, designed to help startups develop a structured pricing approach for their software-as-a-service (SaaS) product. Current literature indicates that SaaS pricing often lacks structure and relies heavily on ad hoc methods, highlighting the need for a specialized tool. The proposed canvas integrates essential elements from the Business Model Canvas, Lean Canvas, and other SaaS pricing literature. Expert interviews and insights from SaaS practitioners further shaped the tool, ensuring it effectively bridges theory with practical application. Validated through workshops, the Pricing Strategy Canvas fosters meaningful discussions among founders, encourages critical thinking, and supports the iterative and experimental nature of startups, ultimately guiding more informed, data-driven pricing decisions.
