Contributions to the Geology of West Seran

Abstract

(...) A more detailed survey of Seran was carried out in the years 1917-1919. L. M. R. RUTTEN and W. HOTZ ("Ceram-Expeditie") gave a fairly coherent, though still schematic, outline of the geology not only of Seran itself, but also of the smaller islands in the neighbourhood. (...) The diaries and collections of the "Ceram-Expeditie" have been the main source of this study. It will be clear that there is much left to be done. The geology of Seran still remains puzzling, and the com plications can be unraveled only by renewed field-work. Bearing this in mind the reader may see this thesis not as the completion of, but only as a link in the geological investigation of Seran.
