Abstract
The pH of arterial blood and the blood from an arterialised ear-lobe are compared. The small difference (± 0.002 pH) is not important in studying the changes of the acid-base balance. It is concluded that blood obtained by puncture of the arterialised earlobe is a good substitute for blood obtained by arterial puncture.
