Abstract
The concept of societal value within welfare politics, policies, and services is critically important, particularly amidst contemporary global challenges such as economic crises, natural disasters, pandemics, and political instability. Understanding and fostering societal value is essential for enhancing public health, reducing inequality, and promoting social cohesion. By exploring the theoretical underpinnings and practical implications of societal value, the chapter provides a comprehensive framework for analyzing how welfare state interventions can enhance public health, reduce inequality, and promote social cohesion.
