Abstract
Could a mosque be a partner of secondary schools in theeducation of students? This is the topic addressed in this specialissue of Pedagogiek. The first article presents the case ofthe An Nour mosque in Gouda that provides assistance withhomework for Moroccan-Dutch as well as other al lochtonousand autochthonous youngsters living in deprived situations.Attention is given to the debates that have risen from thisparticular practice. In the following four articles differentinterdisciplinary perspectives respectively philosophy of law, philosophicalethics, religious cultural anthropology and philosophy of religion formthe background of reflections on this particular pedagogical case. The presentedinsights might strengthen the understanding of pedagogues andeducationalists and can challenge their academic theorizing, policies andpractices.
