Abstract
This article showcases previously overlooked aspects in the reception of Joyce in the Netherlands during the interbellum. It zeroes in, first of all, on a so far underrecognized figure in this reception, Pieter Endt (1883–1936). Newly discovered documents show that Joyce and Endt met in Zürich during the First World War. Further research presented here shows that in the Netherlands over the 1920s and 30s, Joyce became a celebrity of sorts – as a writer, however, he remained relatively unknown.
