Abstract
A 6-month-old boy presented to the emergency department because of bullae on hands and feet that existed since one week, and now started to spread rapidly. He also had erythematous plaques on the extremities and trunk and a single oral vesicle. The clinical diagnosis of hand-footmouth disease was made, which was confirmed by a positive PCR for parechovirus. There may be a relationship between the severe cutaneous manifestations in this case and the atypical causative agent.
