Abstract

The primary objective of this thesis was to develop and refine a range of proton (1H) MRS, 31P-MRSI, and 23Na-MRI methods at 7T for application in studies on brain tumors. The work in this thesis focuses on implementation of different MRS sequences with the purpose of IDH-mutated glioma characterization at 7T with 1H-MRS, development of 31P-MRSI with the aim of increasing SNR per unit of time while requiring low power, and assessment of the practicality and feasibility of interleaving 23Na-MRI and 31P-MRSI acquisitions to enable full metabolic characterization of the brain in one single scan within one scan session.
