Abstract
The anisotropic interaction between acetylene and argon has been studied by observing the density dependence
of the acetylene pure rotational Raman line broadening. The observed cross sections are approximately twice
that predicted from the known polarizabilities and acetylene molecular quadrupole moment. An empirical
atom-atom anisotropic potential adequately parametrizes the results.
