Assessment of configuration of four isomeric α,β-unsaturated sulfones using a lanthanide shift reagent

Abstract

This report describes the application of a computer-aided Lanthanide Induced Shift (LIS)-analysis to discriminate between the four isomeric α,β-unsaturated sulfones 1a–d. The effect of rotation around the MeSO2---C and MeS---C bonds upon the agreement between experimental and calculated Eu(fod)3 induced shifts has been investigated.
