Abstract
This introductory chapter describes the aim and scope of this book on interdisciplinary practices in higher education. It explains why the book was written and why it was developed in this particular way. The process of how the book was created is discussed, and the community that built it is described. The book contains authentic cases, crowdsourced from the community of interdisciplinary practices. Three experts respond to each case, giving their insights and sharing their experiences. Then, the editors integrate the responses and refer the reader to other relevant material. The chapter also contains a guide on how to use the book: the reader does not necessarily have to read it front to back but can find their own way through the material, depending on their purpose, question and experience. The chapter ends with an overview of the rest of the chapters.
