Stable tetranuclear 4-tolylcopperlithium ('cuprate') and -goldlithium ('aurate') compounds

Abstract

Di-4-tolyl-copperlithium and -goldlithium moncetherate are stable tetranuclear species, with 4-Tol{4}M{2}Li{2}.2 Et{2}O stoichiometry, in which the four 4-tolyl groups each bridge one Group IB metal and one lithium atom while each lithium atom further coordinates with one ether molecule.
