Abstract

Analysis of the luminescence properties of Eu3+ in Li6Eu(BO3)3 suggests that the energy migration which occurs over the Eu3+ sublattice down to low temperatures is one-dimensional. The temperature dependence of the migration points to a two-site non-resonant two-phonon assisted process. It occurs by exchange interaction.
