Abstract
This entry is about the young but fast-growing stream of criminology that studies environmental harm through a criminological lens. Drawing on its roots from critical criminology, green criminology transcends the borders of mainstream criminology and its definition of crime. Green criminology focuses on environmental crime and harm by exploring diverse transgressive behaviors. The rapid degradation of the natural environment emphasizes the important role green criminology should play in understanding and explaining understudied green crimes and enrich criminology.
