Abstract
The angular distribution and polarization of γ-radiation emitted byoriented nuclei is calculated assuming pure multipole transitions. For the description of the orientation of the nuclei 2; independent parametersfk are used; these are essentially the statistical tensors introduced by Fano (j is the spin quantum number of the nuclei). The state of polarization of the γ-radiation is characterized by the degree of polarization P and a real three-dimensional polarizationvector ξ0. If these quantitiesfk, P and ξ0 are used, the formulae take a relatively simple form. For the cases of dipole and quadrupole radiation expressions are given which are suitable for numerical calculation by easy substitutions.
