Abstract
Two infants were referred to the dermatology outpatient clinic with (congenital) thickening of the scalp. Dermatological examination and an ultrasound investigation showed lipedematous scalp with and without alopecia. Lipedematous scalp is a rare benign condition and presents often without symptoms. The exact etiology is unknown but hyperplasia and edema of the subcutaneous layer is often seen. Effective treatment is lacking, and as symptoms in children are usually absent, most patients do not need treatment.
