State of the art in frontline studies of welfare-to-work: A Literature Review

Abstract

In this chapter, a state-of-the-art of research into the frontline delivery of activation policies is presented. The chapter provides an overview of some main characteristics of the available academic literature on the frontline delivery of activation. In addition, it explores the main frontline work topics that this literature discusses, the insights that the literature provides in the relevance of the various contexts in interpreting frontline practices, as well as the issue of how frontline practices are seen as influencing the intended and unintended consequences of activation policies.
