Abstract
This contribution deals with the dilemma that the educational system andthe state have to face: for the values and virtues that they presuppose (state)or try to hand over to new generations (schools), they are dependent uponworlds view traditions – and to which their employees (in their own ways)belong themselves. First I sketch this problem of world view pluralism, itsbackground and nature, then two ways to ‘overcome’ it, and I end withthe necessity to accept religious and value pluralism as a fact of our pluralsociety as well as the dependence of teachers from traditions. Therefore, the schools shall develop relations with the broader society and with worldview communities – religious or secular – as well.
