Abstract
In today’s technological context, the media user is not only a consumer but also a creator and moderator. The changing role of users within the new media system calls for a reconsideration of media literacy policy. In the Working Paper (no. 65) What Is Wisdom? The Scope and Effectiveness of Media Literacy Policy, Koen Hoogendoorn examines how the concept of media literacy can be better aligned with this context, drawing on theoretical insights from posthumanism and media ecology. These perspectives shed light on the (limited) influence users can exert within the system, and on how media shape and colour our perception of the world.
