Abstract
A new organosilane, 4-(triallylsilyl)phenol, was prepared in high yield and utilised in the divergent and convergent synthesis of dendrimeric molecules. Novel bifurcate carbosilane dendrimers 1 were prepared by divergent synthesis up to the second generation. This phenol was also used for the convergent synthesis of the dendron [1,3,5-tris{4-(triallylsilyl)phenylester}benzene] (2). The X-ray structure of 2 revealed that the three terminal aromatic rings are almost perpendicular to the central phenyl ring.
