Abstract

In the context of current environmental and social crises, it is necessary to analyse social and environmental exploitation not only together but, more importantly, as mutually constitutive. This chapter argues that the concept of intersectionality should be at the heart of how we understand power relations that are at play in socio-environmental challenges and inequalities. Drawing on agential realism, the chapter proposes a posthumanist understanding of intersectionality. Such an approach enables analysis of not only human but also more-than-human consequences of current socio-environmental emergencies.
