Abstract
The ft values of allowed beta transitions between even parity states in the region between 29Si and 40Ca are computed with the use of wave functions that were calculated earlier in a j-j- coupling model with configuration interaction taken into account.
On the whole, there is good agreement between theoretical and experimental log ft values (the average absolute difference amounts to 0.5), with the exception of the decays of 32Si and 32P.
These results are applied in a calculation of (i) the cross section of 37Cl for solar neutrinos, (ii) the half-life of 37Ca and (iii) the Gamow-Teller matrix element for 35Ar decay.
