Contributions to the geology of East Seran

Abstract

East Seran has been visited at various times by explorers, and a number of publications have been written dealing with this part of the island. Nevertheless, our knowledge of the geology of the island is scant. This is due to the fact that there are very few natural exposed sections, allowing poor observation of the complex structures of the island. (...) The material treated in the following pages was collected by Prof. Rutten during the ,,Ceram Expeditie" carried out from 1917 to 1919. His field annotations were put at my disposal in the autumn of 1942.
