Abstract
HIV infection is a potentially lethal infection that has spread worldwide to involve every continent. There have been new developments in prevention and treatment, and I will allude, briefly, to these. Furthermore, I will discuss several common skin and hair problems that may arise during infection with HIV and that are of importance to the practising dermatologist in Belgium and the Netherlands.
