Abstract

The highest goal in damage-control surgery is to stop the bleeding. Major injuries to the vessels, therefore, pose one of the greatest challenges in the damage-control approach. Vascular injuries of the torso are an immediate threat to the life of the victim, whereas vascular injuries to the extremities threaten the preservation of the limb.
