Abstract

"Israel has absorbed over one million immigrants from the former Soviet Union since its establishment. This enormous immigration has prompted many studies, most of which focused on sociological aspects in immigrants who have lived in Israel up to five years. However, no detailed linguistic study has been conducted yet to thoroughly investigate grammatical knowledge in Hebrew L2. Focusing on the inflectional aspects of Hebrew morphology, the current study assesses morpho-syntactic proficiency in adult Russian immigrants who have lived in Israel for at least eight years, taking into account age of arrival and the nature of linguistic categories to be acquired"
