Abstract

The density of trans-1,2-dichloroethene within a pressure range from 1 to 150 bar and temperatures from +6 °C down to −26 °C was investigated in order to study the thermophysical properties of this material under extreme conditions. In this study, we determined the thermal expansion coefficient and isothermal compressibility of trans-1,2-dichloroethene. X-ray radiography used for these measurements was demonstrated to be a convenient tool for studying the density of liquids inside the nontransparent high-pressure reservoir in a broad range of temperatures.
