Abstract

To make a diagnosis in skin disease it is important to establish the signalment of the patient and to obtain an comprehensive anamnesis (history). Many skin conditions are presented initially at an advanced stage and many have had some (or more) attempts at treatment. A thorough clinical examination should then be performed. These steps should provide a “problem list” and from this it should be clear if and what further tests or examinations need to be performed.
