Abstract

The luminescence of the following compounds is reported: Cs2TeCl6 and Rb2TeBr6, both with undistorted TeX2−6 octahedra (X = C1, Br), and (PDA)TeCl6 and Ca(H2O)7TeBr6, both with distorted TeX62−octahedra. In agreement with results obtained earlier for other ions with the s2 configuration, the distortion results in an increase of the Stokes shift and a decrease of the thermal quenching temperature.
