Preparation and properties of some new derivatives of the octahalodirhenate(III) ion

Abstract

Starting with [(n-C4H9)4N]2 [Re2Cl8] the following compounds were synthesized: [(n-C4H9)4X]2 [Re2Cl8] with X = P, As, Sb; [(n-C4H9)N]2 [Re2(SeCN)8] and [(n-C4H9)4N]2[Re2(CN)8]. Analytical data, spectral properties and magnetic susceptibilities are reported. The properties of the compounds [(n-C4H9)4X]2[Re2Cl8] are analogous to those of the starting material, but the selenocyanato and the cyanato complexes are different.
