Abstract
Reflection seismic methods, widely used in the oil-exploration, can give
detailed images of the earth's interior. Application of these methods with strongly
enhanced resolution allows detailed imaging of the upper tens of meters of the
subsurface. When these methods are applied in water covered areas (such as a
lake, river or sea) they are called marine seismics. Practical applications of marine
seismic methods can, for example, be found in the fields of dredging, construction
and environmental engineering. This thesis deals with some aspects of high
resolution marine seismic profiling. The intention is to give an overview of some
aspects of high resolution marine seismic profiling. It is not the intention to give a
detailed description of all aspects concerning high resolution marine seismic
profiling. However, marine seismic sources and deconvolution techniques will be
discussed in more detail.
