Procedures voor de poëzie. Sybren Polet en het probleem van de authenticiteit.

Abstract

Many of Sybren Polet's poems create a mechanical, artificial impression. They seem to be made with the help of procedures. With this 'proceduralism' Polet dissociates himself from the general idea of poetry that says that a poem is a lyric outpouring of a single subject (a subject that invented the content of the poem beforehand). Polets routine seems to go by the other way round. At first, there is not a content, but a form, a pattern. In this paper I concentrate on Polet's 'proceduralism' that is, in my opinion, a postmodern feature of his poetry.
